Habakkuk 3
As we continue to examine the prophet Habakkuk's psalm of revival prayer and revival praise, we see how it progressively reveals five elements of effective prayer: an intolerable burden, unshakable confidence, non-negotiable dependence upon the Lord, courageous conviction, and a God-exalting objective.

Habakkuk 3
Saving faith is a living, growing faith and we see this truth taking root in Habakkuk's life. In chapters 1 and 2, we have seen the grappling, wrestling prophet bringing complaints and laments before the Lord – but now in chapter 3, we see he has become the trusting, singing prophet who brings a psalm of praise and prayer to the Lord, with two declarations and two requests.

Habakkuk 3
You may believe you will go to heaven because your sins are forgiven – but although God's forgiveness gets you out of hell, you need His righteousness to get into heaven. Habakkuk's declaration, “The righteous shall live by faith” indicates that you not only receive forgiveness of sins through faith in Jesus Christ – you also receive His perfect righteousness credited to your account.

Habakkuk 2
Sometimes a difficult issue or personal crisis arises that will force you to do some serious business with God – and in such times you would do well to follow Habakkuk's example for intimate, personal, honest dealings with the Lord. How does Habakkuk's example teach us how to deal honestly, transparently, and fruitfully with the Lord in times of crisis and challenge?

Habakkuk 2
In Genesis 32 we read how Jacob experienced a life-transforming time of wrestling and grappling with the Lord. Well, the entire book of Habakkuk reflects the prophet wrestling and struggling with an issue that we still grapple with – the sovereignty, power, and holiness of God versus the reality of sin in the world.

Habakkuk 1:12-2:20
At this point in our series, you might think that Habakkuk is beginning to sound like a complainer, but His complaints and laments arise because he is serious about three things – the glory of God; the holiness of God and His people; and his own abhorrence of sin and the terrifying prospect that God’s people would embrace it in defiance of the Lord.

Habakkuk 1:12-2:20
You can't expect the trains to run according to your timetable if you are using a train schedule from a different city. And yet, that's how we sometimes act with God – and how Habakkuk did as well. Our timetables are skewed by impatience, misconceptions, sin, and the limitations of human wisdom, but God's timetable is perfect because it is rooted in His wisdom, sovereignty, and power.

God is big enough to handle your complaints, doubts, and concerns – but you had better be ready for the way He may answer you. There are some positive aspects of Habakkuk's complaint against the Lord – and yet, God's answer to him reveals Habakkuk's misunderstandings and some serious corrections that God needed to bring about in his life.
