There is no such thing as leadership that does not work. Leadership always works – good leadership produces good fruit and bad leadership produces bad fruit. The bad spiritual leadership that results from the influence of Contemporary Progressive Christianity inevitably produces bad spiritual fruit that has a detrimental, destructive, and divisive effect on the modern evangelical church.

People will sometimes say, “Well, the apple didn't fall far from the tree” when talking about parents and children. Contemporary progressive Christianity is the bitter spiritual fruit that did not fall far from the poisonous tree of the Theological liberalism that utterly decimated the mainline Protestant church in the 20th century. This anti-Christian offspring is wreaking havoc in today's evangelical church.

The church of Jesus Christ in every generation desperately needs biblical and spiritual discernment to combat heresies and satanic deceptions both old and new – and in our day a clear and present danger is contemporary progressive Christianity, which is simply a repackaging of the heretical theological liberalism of the past. What are the marks that identify Contemporary Progressive Christianity?

Many churches, pastors, and professing Christians have fully embraced critical theory, while others more cautiously try to chew what they perceive as the meat while spitting out the bones. But critical theory is so dangerously flawed in its very essence that it is more like trying to swallow ocean water and spit out the salt – it is impossible and it will in fact kill you.

Critical theory is a social and philosophical movement that has made its way into the pulpits of the evangelical church – but it is also religious in essence. The real danger lies in the reality that critical theory is not merely a religion, but one that that is anti-Christian, anti-biblical, and thoroughly inconsistent with the Gospel.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Our society and culture will either be blessed by Christians fighting the spiritual war with the armor of God and the weapons of the Spirit – or they will become casualties of war.

Galatians 1:6-12
The first mark of contemporary progressive Christianity is a denial of the functional supremacy of God's Word in faith and practice. It redefines biblical terms according to the language of psychology and therapy, resulting in a therapeutic gospel instead of a redemptive one. Galatians 1:6-12
